Our Demands

This is what we stand for — and what voters have empowered us to demand.

Mandate — Our pledge to voters, your power to change

As a national civic and democratic institution, United Voters Social Foundation is committed to one sacred cause: the protection and strengthening of Indian voters' rights. We do not serve parties, politicians, or power — we serve the people who cast their vote. Our mandate flows directly from the voter’s voice — clean, fearless, and uncompromising. We demand electoral integrity, free from money and muscle power. We demand compulsory voting accountability, where every elected representative answers to the citizen, not the command.

We demand accessible polling, real-time grievance redressal, and voter ID protection for every Indian, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Beyond demands, we act — through awareness drives, voter literacy camps, and legal advocacy. We empower voters with knowledge, equip them with tools, and amplify their collective will.

We are the bridge between the ballot and the bench. We are the watchful eye on voter rights violations. We are the voice of 140 crore voters. This is our mandate — because in a democracy, power belongs not to those who govern, but to those who choose them.

The voter should not be important only on Election Day. The voter should remain important every day
Giving the Voter a Continuing Voice After Election Day

An election should not mark the end of the voter’s democratic participation. United Voters Social Foundation therefore seeks consideration of a constitutional, legislative or appropriate democratic mechanism through which voters may have a continuing right to express withdrawal of confidence from an elected representative during the term, subject to suitable safeguards, procedures and legal scrutiny.

We fully recognise that such a proposal requires careful examination of the Constitution of India, election laws, parliamentary procedures, federal principles and safeguards against misuse. Our demand is therefore for the Government of India to initiate a serious institutional and legal examination of this concept rather than treating the voter’s role as ending on Election Day.

An Official Constituency Office for Every Elected Member of Parliament

An elected Member of Parliament represents the people of a particular constituency. However, many ordinary voters, particularly senior citizens, women, economically weaker citizens, and people living in rural or distant areas, may find it difficult to know where and how they can directly meet their elected representative.

We therefore respectfully request consideration of a policy framework under which every elected Member of Parliament is required to maintain an officially designated and publicly known constituency office accessible to the voters of that constituency.

The objective is simple: A voter should know where to go when he or she needs to meet the elected representative.

Affordable Public Transport Connectivity to the MP’s Constituency Office

United Voters Social Foundation therefore proposes consideration of a state-supported or publicly accessible transport connectivity mechanism to ensure that voters, especially those from villages and distant parts of a constituency, can reach the designated office of their elected Member of Parliament.

Democracy becomes stronger when geographical distance does not become a barrier between citizens and their elected representatives.

We request that the Government of India examine appropriate mechanisms, in consultation with State Governments and relevant authorities, to improve affordable public connectivity between constituency areas and designated public offices of elected representatives.

Our Democratic Principle

“The voter should not be important only on Election Day. The voter should remain important every day.”

United Voters Social Foundation demands, in the larger public interest and intending to strengthen India's democratic institutions, that citizen participation, and to make elected public representatives more accessible to the people they serve.

We believe in encouraging a broader national dialogue on strengthening direct communication, accessibility, and accountability between elected representatives and voters. This can help bring elected representatives closer to the people, particularly ordinary citizens who may not have political influence, financial resources, or personal connections.
